Creation of the academic program of Nursing.

1950

Issuance of Decree No. 641, which gives viability to the creation of the Faculty of Medicine.

1951

Opening of the Faculty of Medicine. Fifty doctors begin their formation in the Old Cloister of Santa Librada with five professors.

1956

It is inaugurated the Departmental University Hospital "Evaristo García".

1957

School for Medical Laboratory Techniques opens.

1958

The "Preventive-Healthcare and Medical-Sanitary Education Pilot Unit of Candelaria-Valle" opens.

1959

Creation of the Colombian Association of Faculties of Medicine, ASCOFAME.

1962

Linking to the Health Center “El Guabal”.

1963

Health programs are extended to the Pacific Coast.

1967

Creation of the School of Physical Therapy Techniques.

1969

Creation of the Health Division. 

1970

Creation of the Department of Stomatology.

1971

Creation of the Speech Therapy Section in the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation.

1982

Creation of the Phonoaudiology academic program

1986

The curriculum of Occupational Therapy is approved.

1990

Department of Clinical Laboratory.

1992

The Faculty begins its process of curriculum review supported by UNI project.

1993

The Faculty of Health is organized into seven schools.

1997

Since this year, the Institute for research and development in violence prevention and promotion of social coexistence (CISALVA) is allocated as a partner of PAHO/WHO for Latin American and Caribbean.

1998

The process of self-assessment and accreditation of the Faculty of Health starts.

1999

The Faculty performs the first Research Symposium.

The strengthening project of the curriculum reform process, supported by the Foundation W.K.Kellogg, starts.

2000

It is performed the First Seminar-Workshop on Communication and Health and the Second Research Symposium.

2001

Los programas de Medicina y Odontología son acreditados por el Ministerio de Educación por cinco años. Los demás programas han realizado su Autoevaluación y han recibido la visita de los Pares Académicos.

The Ministry of Education accredits Medicine and Dentistry programs for five years. Other programs have done their Self-assessment and have been visited by academic peers.

It is performed the third Research Symposium.

2002

The Ministry of Education accredits Nursing, Phonoaudiology, Occupational Therapy and Bacteriology programs. The fourth Research Symposium is performed.

2003

Medicine School begins the process of self-evaluation of its 23 postgraduate programs.

It is performed the Seminar "The University facing disasters and forced displacement". The fourth version of the Research Symposium is performed in this year.

2004

The excellent results of the Higher Education Quality Tests made by ICFES placed the Faculty of Health in the first places in its different areas, demonstrating once again the quality of health programs that are taught. The Faculty receives the awards "Civic Medal Santiago de Cali Category Honor of Merit" by the municipality of Cali, and the "Medal Santiago de Cali - Grade Gold Cross" by the Council of Cali, for its academic excellence. The fifth Research Symposium is performed.

2005

The 60 anniversary of the Nursing School and the University. The Department of Pediatrics celebrates 50 years.
