The Master in Quality Management for Laboratories is an interfaculty academic program, in which the Faculty of Natural and Exact Sciences, la Faculty of Health y la Faculty of Engineering of the Universidad del Valle.

 

The Master's Degree in Quality Management for Laboratories is aimed at professionals in the areas of Natural and Exact Sciences, Engineering and Health whose professional work is carried out in testing and calibration or clinical analysis laboratories. Graduates of this master's degree will be able to work in quality management or coordination, metrological assurance coordination, expert analysis in quality assurance and quality assurance management in laboratories in different sectors. Likewise, they may be managers of companies related to advice and consulting aimed at the organization of good practices in quality management for laboratories, the accreditation of services and certification of products or processes.

General Objective

The general objective of the Academic Program of the Master in Quality Management for Laboratories is to strengthen the knowledge and skills of the human resource responsible for the quality management system in laboratories in order to increase the competitiveness of the services provided.a.

Specific objectives

  • Promote critical thinking skills that allow the analysis of processes related to laboratory quality management and the coordination of interdisciplinary interventions that contribute to their development.
  • Provide the student with knowledge related to regulations in quality systems, models, articulation and complementarity of laboratory management, to offer consulting and advisory services in the area at a national and international level.
  • Develop skills in the application of technical tools to identify problems and propose solutions, which contribute to local or regional development related to quality management for laboratories.

Professional Profile

The Master in Quality Management for Laboratories enables its graduates to:

  • Plan, carry out and evaluate laboratory quality control that guarantees the validity of clinical analyses, tests and calibrations, and in turn contributes to the strengthening or improvement of processes.
  • Design reference materials for calibration and validation processes of fundamental methods to provide reliability to the work of laboratories.
  • Be a manager or consultant of programs aimed at the accreditation of laboratory quality according to the standards of international and national standardization organizations.
  • Participate in the strengthening of the National Quality Subsystem and Metrological Control for the development of science and technology for the benefit of laboratory management.
  • Lead work teams or programs related to quality management for laboratories and sustainable development.

  • Possess a professional degree in Engineering, Exact Sciences and Health, with experience in Laboratories.
  • Accredit professional activities.
  • Certify the total cumulative average of the last reported undergraduate or graduate degree.
  • Complete the registration form correctly, attaching the documents required by the Universidad del Valle for registration in Postgraduate programs.
  • Registration fee: $308,950.

Resolution No.014162 of August 04, 2020 - "Through which the request for qualified registration of the Master's program in Quality Management for Laboratories of the Universidad del Valle is resolved, to be offered in person, in depth in Cali (Valle del Cauca)."

Resolution No.47 of April 8, 2021  - "By which the Registration and Admission Regulations are established for the Academic Master's Program in Quality Management for Laboratories, assigned to the Faculties of Natural and Exact Sciences, Engineering and Health."
