In 1967, the School began its postgraduate programs in Nursing at the Master's level with the aim of training professionals to perform positions of greater complexity and responsibility in the clinical, administrative, teaching and research areas; thus, in this decade, Master's programs in Maternal-Child, Pediatrics, Medical-Surgical, Mental Health and Psychiatry were offered; these programs were offered until 1974.
In 1988 the School restarted the Master's Program in Nursing in 3 areas of emphasis: Maternal Child, Child and Adult and Elderly.
The Nursing program was updated in 1993, through resolution No. 019 of February 26, 1992 of the Superior Council of the Universidad del Valle, by which the Master's Degree in Nursing with the Distance Methodology was established.
In 2003, a virtual learning platform was built at the Universidad del Valle, where the resources and tools were gathered to develop the distance learning course. Since 2005, with the aim of finding a broader and faster evolving platform that would handle learning object standards, the Moodle platform was introduced, which allows teachers and students to develop entirely virtual programs. In that same year, Blended Learning began to be used, which mixes the resources of the teaching-learning process and those of distance education in order to enhance the strengths and reduce the limitations of both modalities. These resources have been strengthened over the years and have adapted to technological advances, favoring the advanced training of nurses, from their workplaces and home, promoting the discipline and the profession in Nursing.
