Train researchers capable of organizing and directing biomedical research with integrity, responsibility, transparency and rationality, which contribute to the development of science, health and well-being of the country and the region.
The Academic Master's Program in Biomedical Sciences aims to train researchers with the skills to carry out biomedical research in a directed manner and with preparation for a doctoral level, after which they could carry out research autonomously.
The Registration and Admission Process is carried out taking into account the dates and procedures established by the academic calendar issued by the Academic Vice-Rector's Office, in addition to the specific dates and procedures established by the Academic Program.
For each open call, the maximum number of new admitted students may not be greater than 30 nor less than 15. If the Academic Program does not complete the established minimum quota, it will not be able to begin academic activities in that period, in which case, the admitted applicants will retain the quota only until the next admission call in which the quota is filled.
Applicants may register for only one research group, which they must indicate in their registration form. Applicants are recommended to contact the Research Groups of the School of Basic Sciences before registering.

The School of Basic Sciences was formed in 1994, with the aim of promoting the integration of teachers and students from different basic disciplines in the health area. It currently has two postgraduate academic programs: Master in Biomedical Sciences and Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences and is made up of three Departments:
In 2000, the Master's Program in Basic Sciences was created, attached to the Faculty of Health, in which it was decided to unify the Master's programs in Biochemistry, Pharmacology, Physiology, Immunology, Microbiology and Morphology.
Starting in 2008, the Superior Council of the Universidad del Valle changed the name of the Program to a Master's Degree in Biomedical Sciences. Currently, the Academic Program has Qualified Registration for a term of seven (7) years, granted through Resolution No. 6278 of 2016, issued by the Ministry of National Education.
