Mission

The Master's Program in Epidemiology, attached to the School of Public Health of the University of Valle's School of Health, seeks to train human talent through a comprehensive academic process focused on understand and apply research methods in disease health process.

Objectives

General

To carry out quality training in epidemiology in an interdisciplinary academic environment that allows to develop research, technical assistance and teaching, with appropriate methodologies for identification of factors associated with health phenomena, evaluation of intervention strategies and generation of public health policies.

Specific

• To train in the practice of tools about epidemiology methods through a continuous pedagogical process. Also, promote transfer of the knowledge generated by epidemiological studies relevant for decision-making associated to individual and collective health.
• To seek development of an integral formation on professionals of epidemiology, with a humanistic and interdisciplinary vision of health problems.
• To promote development of epidemiological research on priority health problems at regional, national and international levels.
• To develop in students a spirit of self-evaluation and self-training, which will allow them to keep up to date throughout their professional performance.
