Mission

Following the University of Valle principles, the mission of the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics is to contribute to train students of Undergraduate Program in Medicine and Surgery. Also, to form human resource specialized in the area of Gynecology and Obstetrics under the highest parameters of academic and scientific level.

Objectives

• To train specialists with human and scientific quality able to offer medical attention for women health improvement, with self-critical and self-discipline training who know their capacity limits to act and decide accordingly. To train competent and comprehensive specialists who know scientific foundations in gynecology and obstetrics, as well as in other specialties directly related to other areas of basic sciences and clinics. In addition, to acquire abilities and skills for handling and diagnosis of the specialty.
• To develop capacities to stay updated on related knowledge and being able to increase it.
• To train specialists who know social and legal implications in caring gynecological obstetric patients, clearly identifying their responsibilities and rights, in order to act accordingly, achieving a healthy balance between purely scientific knowledge and the medical-human response in front of patient and his family.
